We believe that a knit should last a lifetime; here is our essential guide to caring for your knitwear.

A GUIDE TO WASHING

Caring for knitwear begins with understanding its natural fibres. Wool, cashmere and delicate knits don’t need frequent washing; often, simply airing them out is enough to refresh them between wears.

How to wash a jumper:

- Lukewarm water
- Non-bio detergent and a small addition of hair conditioner will help to restore softness and lustre
- Submerge & lather
- Gently wring out (but do not twist) excess water. Never be tempted to spin a jumper in a machine, this is where most shrinkage occurs
- Lie flat on a clean surface to dry. Do not hang or drape, the weight of the water will distort the shape of the knit
- Iron if necessary, on a cool setting, using a handkerchief

DRYING

To preserve the shape and integrity of your knitwear, always dry wool, cashmere and delicate knits flat. After washing, gently press the garment between a clean towel to absorb excess moisture, avoiding any wringing or stretching. Carefully restore its original shape and leave it to dry naturally on a flat surface, away from direct sunlight and artificial heat. This gentle approach helps protect the fibres and maintain the fit, softness and structure of each piece.

STORAGE & SHAPE

Wool, cashmere and delicate knits benefit from a little time to rest between wears, allowing their natural fibres to recover their softness and shape. To keep your knitwear in its best condition, store each piece folded rather than hanging, as the weight of the fabric can gradually stretch the shoulders and alter its silhouette. Choose a cool, dry space and give your garments room to breathe, preserving their texture and shape season after season.

REPAIR YOUR GARMENTS

Loose Threads and snags:

Loose threads and snags can occur with everyday wear. Avoid pulling or cutting them, as this may cause further damage. Gently guide the thread back into garment using a blunt needle, or seek professional assistance if needed.

Holes and Knitwear Repairs:

Small holes are best repaired as soon as they appear to prevent them from becoming larger. Depending on the damage, delicate darning or professional knitwear repair can help resotre the garment while preserving its original texture and shape.

Seams and Edges:

Seams and edges can loosen over time with regular wear. If you notice a seam beginning to open or an edge becoming undone, repair it promptly to prevent further damage. For delicate fabrics or intricate knitwear, professional repair can help preserve the garment's structure and finish.
